Resolutions take Research

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like setting new years resolutions. HOWEVER, I don't agree with starting them on January 1st. The time between Christmas and New Years is pure chaos in my life. I am travelling, cooking, and spending all the time with family and friends. No where in that stretch do I have the downtime required to set a proper new years resolution.

Resolutions take research. Louder for the people in the back: RESOLUTIONS TAKE RESEARCH.

I need to properly organize my brain to determine what resolutions I want to tackle. Once I have an idea of the main category/categories. I need to put in the research to effectively PLAN out how I can tackle the resolution. Even a simple "Drink more water" resolution needs a plan in order to be successful.

Here are the categories rattling around my brain right now:

  1. Financial saving. Currently researching budgeting strategies and tools before setting a realistic and measurable resolution.

  2. Increased exercise. I want to take care of my postpartum body. Looking into easing-back-into-it programs and pelvic floor physiotherapy exercises.

  3. Eating/mental health. This is one I have been thinking about for a little while - and I still don't know that I have all the steps in place to fully form a resolution. What I know is that I want to stop my "all or nothing" thinking when it comes to healthy eating.

I'm taking my time coming up with my final resolutions.
